The red plane rests like a sentinel against the vast white of the glacier, a stark contrast to the towering peaks that stretch beyond the horizon. Up here, the world is reduced to its rawest elements—rock, ice, sky. The air is thin, the silence thick, broken only by the slow creak of shifting snow beneath our boots.
Landing on the glacier had been surreal—one moment we were soaring above ridgelines, the next, skimming down onto the frozen expanse like pioneers of the air. To our relief, it was surprisingly smooth—none of the usual brace-yourself moments of commercial flights. Stepping out, the immensity of the mountains pressed in, a humbling reminder of nature’s scale and our fleeting presence within it. Then, as suddenly as we had arrived, the plane lifted off again, leaving nothing but our footprints in the snow.
